GHV Speech has a good day at district speech. The Freshmen improv got a Division II rating, and the Varsity Reader's Theatre and Improv group both received a Division I rating and are on to State in Decorah .

Spring into Reading with Ms. Jill’s 5th-8th graders! Students are able to read a book (chapter book for their reading level) during their free time or during study hall.When finished, they fill out a flower they get from Ms. Jill and get to choose between the following: a Panda Cub Meal from Panda Express, a personal-sized pizza from Pizza Hut, or a coupon for an Iowa Wild hockey ticket.Here are a few of the books some students have read.

Seniors in American Government class worked in collaboration with our CCTC, Shelby, to donate items to the women's shelter in Mason City. Students donated hundreds of individual toiletries including toothbrushes, toothpaste, and soap as well as a few baby items!

This Thursday, the GHV Cardinal Jazz Ensemble earned 2nd place at the Tallcorn Jazz Festival! This festival at UNI is one of the biggest jazz band competitions in the state, and it routinely has several of the best bands in Iowa competing in it. This placement makes GHV eligible to qualify for the Iowa Jazz Championships as a wildcard, and we will know whether or not we have been chosen as a wildcard on March 10th. Congratulations!
